Our real wood bunk beds for kids and adults are made from American Poplar (or Tulipwood). Poplar is a hardwood; it gives our bunks the structural strength necessary to support large adults and rambunctious kids. Our poplar supplier is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council which promotes environmentally sound management of the world's forests. We use oversize rails and 3 1/4" square corner posts. The bunk is secured with dowels, heavy-duty architectural bolts, and hidden structural screws to maximize the structural strength and stability of the bed.
Our bunks complement clean air and healthy living environments. We use formaldehyde-free paints and finishes that are Greenguard certified, contain negligible VOCs, and fully comply with stringent regulations set by the California Air Resources Board. We apply two coats of paint to our bunks and hand sand the bed after each coat is applied.
